Two of South Africa’s luxury trains, the Rovos Rail and The Blue Train, have appeared on the list of the world’s top train operators, Cape {town} Etc reports.
According to a recent study conducted by Japan Rail Pass, the list of the world’s best luxury train rides, several factors were taken into account.

The survey analysed Tripadvisor reviews, global search volumes and Instagram hashtags and after an index score was created, the world’s best luxury train rides were ranked.
The two SA trains, which made it to the Top 10, are known for offering an ‘exceptional experience’ which combines excellent service, comfort and picturesque views, as reported by The South African.
The Rovos Rail offers a nostalgic experience with modern comfort, operating several routes, one of them being from Cape Town.
The Blue Train boasts a remarkable history and is renowned for its dining experiences and breathtaking landscapes, operating mainly between Cape Town and Pretoria.
According to the survey, the list of the ten best luxury trains are:
1.) Rocky Mountaineer, Canada
2.) GoldenPass Express, Switzerland
3.) The Ghan, Australia
4.) Rovos Rail, South Africa
5.) Seven Stars, Japan
6.) The Blue Train, South Africa
7.) Venice Simplon Orient Express, England
8.) British Pullman, England
9.) The Royal Scotsman, Scotland
10.) Maharajas’ Express, India
