Police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg said a postmortem will be conducted to determine the cause of her death.
On Monday, residents received an alert on a community safety app, warning them that Victoria Road was temporarily closed between Camps Bay and Llandudno. They were advised to use Constantia Nek as an alternative route.
The alert also stated that a search and rescue operation was underway from the air, sea and land. It was accompanied by a photo of police and private security vehicles blocking the road at the parking area before Oudekraal Beach, News24 reports.
Craig Lambinon, spokesperson for the National Sea Rescue Institute, said the organisation did not receive any reports of sea rescues in the Camps Bay area.
Anyone with information on the woman’s death can contact Crime Stop 08600 10111.
