On Tuesday, 2 July from 9am until 4pm, the areas of Vredekloof, Welgelee, Arauna, Morgenster, St Kilda, Marlborough Park, Brackenfell Industrial and Okavango Park will be affected by zero-pressure tests and conditional assessments. The maintenance forms part of the City’s Water Demand Management Strategy.
Additional zone management investigations will be carried out to ensure that the zone management infrastructure is operating effectively and efficiently. Pressure fluctuations are likely but will be minimized as much as possible.
The areas of Newlands, Rondebosch, Rosebank, UCT, Kenilworth and Wynberg will be affected by maintenance work, repairs and replacements. Residents of the listed areas are advised to store water as a precautionary measure as the maintenance will disrupt water supply. The disruption stems from the Water and Sanitation Directorate’s annual cleaning of the Newlands Reservoir, which is to commence Monday, 1 July 2024. Residents may experience lower water pressure than usual up until Monday, 8 July.
On Monday, 1 July, from 10am until 5pm, a disruption of water supply will occur as a result of the installation of control valves. The affected areas are Neville Crescent, Didi Street and Vera Street in Scottsdene.
On Tuesday, 2 July, Site C – Khayelitsha will face the disruption of water supply from 10am until 5pm. This is as a result of the installation of a meter and pressure reducing valve on the main water supply. Residents to the area are kindly requested to store clean water in advance.
In preparation for planned water supply disruptions, residents are advised to store enough water in clean and sealed containers. Residents are further advised to keep all taps closed to prevent water loss or damage when the water supply is restored.
