According to National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) spokesperson Craig Lambinon, it is believed that the car, with the young motorist inside, slid down the slipway and landed in the water.
‘He was not injured,’ said Lambinon, who added that members of the Oceana Power Boat Club came to the young man’s rescue and assisted in recovering the vehicle.
Video footage of the incident, circulating on social media platforms, shows the young man being brought to safety by an onlooker who had dived into the water while boat club members gathered by the water’s edge, one member with a rope in hand.

In another video, the vehicle, which was later recovered, was seen bobbing and then sinking after the young man managed to escape.
As more people gathered around, the driver emerged from the water, drenched but unharmed, reported News24.
Onlookers as well as commenting social media users were left asking why and how the vehicle landed up in the water.
