Both van der Linde brothers from South Africa participated in the Formula E at Berlin’s Tempelhof Airport Street Circuit last weekend on 11 and 12 May.
Sheldon van der Linde participated in the Formula E rookie test yesterday, representing Jaguar TCS Racing, while Kelvin van der Linde participated in both rounds of the Berlin E-Prix for ABT Cupra over the weekend.

Sheldon van der Linde managed to set a series of impressive lap times during the rookie test, as he was up against ‘some of the world’s top single-seater talents in the test’.
As this was his fourth rookie outing for Jaguar TCS Racing, he was behind Ferrari F1 reserve Robert Shwartzman in the DS Penske and Jack Crawford in the Andretti.
Van der Linde would end up finishing the race in third place, just under a quarter-of-a-second from the ultimate pace as he ‘worked through his programme with Jaguar TCS Racing’, according to FIA Formula E.
He set the afternoon’s third-fastest time during the test race, the same day of his 25th birthday.
‘It was really cool to drive the Jaguar I-Type 6 again. It’s always fun to jump into the Formula E car and give Mitch [Evans] and Nick [Cassidy] something useful for the Shanghai E-Prix next week,’ said van der Linde.
‘It’s been a pleasure working with this team that is so passionate and welcoming. I’ve really enjoyed my time with them,’ he added.
Meanwhile, Kelvin narrowly missed out on claiming world championship points on Saturday, ending the race in P11, and on Sunday, he made up ‘six places’, ending the race in P16. He was as a replacement for regular driver Nico Müller.
