The South African Weather Service (SAWS) issued more weather warnings for the Western Cape on Saturday, 13 July.

This includes:

  • Orange level 6 warning: Disruptive rainfall could lead to flooding of roads and settlements over the southern parts of Witzenberg, Drakenstein and Stellenbosch municipalities.
  • Yellow Level 4 warning: Disruptive rain leading to localised flooding of roads and settlements, is expected over the City of Cape Town, Swartland, Bergrivier, Cederberg, Drakenstein, Witzenberg, Theewaterskloof and Stellenbosch municipalities.
  • Yellow Level 2 warning: Disruptive snow is expected over the mountainous regions of the Witzenberg Local Municipality in the Western Cape and Karoo Hoogland Local Municipality in the Northern Cape.

A series of cold fronts will continue to affect the Western and Northern Cape until Sunday. The SAWS warns the public and small-scale farmers of heavy rainfall, snowfalls, very cold conditions, strong coastal and interior winds and very rough seas.

Today, the Western Cape will be cloudy and cold with isolated showers and rain in the west but scattered to widespread over the southwestern parts. Possible thundershowers are expected over the south-western parts from the afternoon.

The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh northerly to north-westerly but strong along the south-west coast.

The expected UV sunburn index is low.
