Ian Cameron has taken to Twitter to launch a scathing criticism of the government’s approach to combatting crime in local communities.
In the video, the leader of Action Society in Gugulethu, takes aim at Police Minister, Bheki Cele and Minister of Tourism, Lindiwe Sisulu, in particular, accusing them of not doing enough to protect and serve the general public, instead opting to mislead tourists into believing that tourists were safe in South Africa.

I don't know in which South Africa Lindiwe Sisulu and Bheki Cele live, but their lies about South Africa being a safe place for tourists astounds me. Why do they now speak out when ordinary South Africans face the bloodshed every single day. pic.twitter.com/4kkQz6YvaG

“In the last 24 hours Minister Lindiwe Sisulu told the world that South Africa is a safe place to visit,” says Cameron. “Well minister, I don’t know which South Africa you live in but in the one we live, three people are murdered every hour and 71 per day.”
“It’s a disgrace that you can lie the way you do to the rest of the world just for the sake of saving face and probably money in the future because when ordinary people are killed in this country, you don’t care.”

“We’ve tried to offer solutions and engage properly but you never ever show up. You don’t step up. You are incompetent.”
Meanwhile, this is what tweeps have to say:
- “Do u really expect Lindiwe Sisulu to experience crime in South Africa? She got 24/7 VIP protection unit at her house, she’s driven around in a blue light convoy.”
- “As soon as they open their mouths the untruths flow. They both speak it fluently!!!”
- “When can we march to get these incompetent leaders removed?”
- “I suggest you compile a list of tourists murdered in that period and call the minister’s shame!”
