The 2024 general elections have reached a historic conclusion as the African National Congress (ANC) sees the end of its 30-year majority domination.

The vote counting extended into the early hours of Sunday morning, leaving South Africans on edge as they awaited the results that would determine the country’s leadership for the next five years.
The ANC secured 40.21% of the national support, a significant decrease of 17% compared to the previous election. The Democratic Alliance (DA) obtained 21.76% of the vote, while the new political player, uMkhonto we Sizwe (MK), impressively garnered 14.59% in their debut.
In the Western Cape, the DA maintained its stronghold, capturing 53.05% of the votes as anticipated.
With no party achieving a clear national majority, coalition negotiations are set to begin, and the nation watches closely to see who will emerge as the next president.
