‘Mowbray police registered a house robbery case for further investigation following an incident, which occurred at a residence in Mowbray at about 20:45 on Tuesday, 18 June 2024,’ he told News24.
According to a source close to the investigation, it was Vearey’s house. The family managed to escape unhurt.
However, the suspects are still at large.
Vearey was dismissed in 2021 for alleged misconduct in posts he made on social media. The latter reportedly brought the police into disrepute.
The Labour Court declared in February that the arbitration that resulted in Vearey’s dismissal was unjust and ought to be retried in the Western Cape High Court.
