According to EWN, five unidentified armed men reportedly entered the victim’s home around 1am, according to police reports.
During the incident, a 65-year-old man was stabbed, and his wife was tied up as the assailants ransacked the property before fleeing with four firearms of different calibres, as well as ammunition and cellphones.
The woman managed to escape and seek help from neighbours, but tragically, her husband did not survive the attack. He was later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.
The organisation’s Billy Claasen visited the scene on Monday.
‘We are in shock about what happened here. They are somewhere in the mountains, the police are looking for them and also the neighbourhood watches and the security companies involved here.’
‘But we hope and pray that they will find them and that they will be punished and brought to book for this gruesome deed,’ said Claasen.
Western Cape police have stated that their serious and violent crime detectives are actively pursuing all leads in their efforts to apprehend the group of men responsible for the attack.
