An Eskom pylon located in the Worcester area collapsed earlier this week after vandals removed parts of it.
The power utility says the pylon was discovered by technicians after they investigated the site. Eskom customers are not affected, it said, noting that its network is robust enough despite the bad weather.

‘Eskom appeals to the public to report criminal activity that leads to paying customers being negatively affected by prolonged outages. Eskom teams continue to be resilient in ensuring the electricity network’s integrity is restored despite the inclement weather,’ it added.
On Friday, Eskom confirmed that technicians restored supply to the entire Khayelitsha area, with supply to Ladismith, Betty’s Bay, Kleinmond and Rooi Els due to be restored this week.
It also warned customers to treat all electrical installations as live for the duration of any outages.
