DA leader John Steenhuisen has voiced concerns about the efficiency of the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC). With one job and five years to prepare, Steenhuisen argues that voters should not have had to endure long queues to exercise their democratic rights.

Wednesday’s elections saw many voters across the country endure lengthy queues due to technical glitches at several voting stations.
Despite Steenhuisen’s belief that this has brought significant damage to all parties, the IEC managed to achieve a higher voter turnout than the 66% recorded in the 2019 general elections.
