Hospital group spokesperson Leigh Thomas reported that the theft of a computer box and screen occurred at 2:30am, with the perpetrators gaining access by forcing open a manager’s office window.
‘Our managers work a standard office week from Monday to Friday, so the office was unoccupied at the time,’ she stated.
Thomas declined to reveal specific security protocols, citing potential risks to patient and staff safety. ‘Providing detailed information could pose a future security risk,’ she explained.
The following day, officers from Titanium Securitas apprehended two suspects during crime-prevention patrols near the Okavango Bridge by the shopping centre. According to Titanium spokesperson Kobus Kotze, one suspect attempted to flee but was captured and brought back for questioning. A search of the area revealed a computer box and screen labelled ‘Mediclinic.’
Both suspects were taken to the hospital, where staff confirmed the items’ identity and decided to press charges for the break-in. The suspects were then handed over to Brackenfell police for further processing.
