In August, the endurance swimmer from Somerset West achieved the unthinkable by crossing Robben Island for the 155th time, breaking the world record.
The 59-year-old was presented with a certificate indicating that he is now an official Guinness World Record holder, having surpassed the previous record holder’s number of crossings.
However, over the weekend, he achieved a new milestone by running the distance for the 200th time in just over two and a half hours.

The day was all about cold water and warm hearts, and Howard emerged from the ocean not only as the only man to have crossed Robben Island to Blouberg 200 times but also as an animal advocate.
He has raised more than R160 000 to support the work of the SPCA’s animal hospital.
Warrington has previously participated in charity swims benefiting the Cape of Good Hope SPCA and Distance for Difference.
He is currently swimming to benefit the Heartlands Baby Sanctuary in Somerset West.
‘Howard has completed his 200th swim in 2h36 minutes, swimming “skins” AKA only in a speedo in water temperatures of 13.2 degrees, just a few degrees shy of single digits,’ said the SPCA in a statement following the successful crossing.
‘Thank you, Howard! You have touched hearts, inspired many, and have made a big difference for the animals in our care.’
‘You are our hero, with every stroke, enduring the cold water, waves and currents you were saving lives!’
