Cape Town Mayor Patricia De Lille has been given a extension until the 2018. De Lille was meant to give reasons to the Democratic Alliance today, as to why she should retain her job as mayor. This comes after she was involved in a string of allegations regarding maladministration. Among some of the other top officials who were also expected to make submissions today was the DA’s Federal chairperson James Selfe, City Chief Whip Shaun August and speaker Dirk Smit. Smit has already made his submissions to the party’s federal executive.

De Lille was suspended last week from all party activities. In an interview with a local Sunday newspaper De Lille said she was being treated “unfairly” and said she will be heading to the court to oppose a motion of no confidence against her.
