South African audiences will have extensive coverage of the 2024 Summer Olympics, starting with the opening ceremony in Paris on Friday evening.
The events will be broadcast across various platforms, including SuperSport channels on MultiChoice’s DStv, SABC channels, Showmax, and the official Olympics website.

From 26 July to 11 August, SuperSport will cover all gold medal events live.
The broadcast will feature South African Olympians such as Ryk Neethling, Lyndon Ferns, Sizwe Lawrence Ndlovu, Godfrey Khotso Mokoena, Bridgitte Hartley, Geraldine Pillay, and Alyssa Conley.
MultiChoice and SuperSport will also introduce a ‘SuperScreen’ channel on DStv channel 199, offering an overview of all Olympic channels with eight split screens.

Additionally, SuperSport will provide eight dedicated Olympic channels, five streaming channels, and four overflow channels, with highlights available on the SuperSport Grandstand (DStv 201) channel.
A 24-hour Olympic Update Channel (DStv 217) will offer news and highlights, available to DStv Access subscribers. Special content featuring Olympic stars such as Akani Simbine and Noah Lyles will be available on DStv CatchUp.
In South Africa, MultiChoice’s Olympic channels will include:

Olympics 1 will be available on DStv Compact, Olympics 2 on DStv Access, Olympics 3 on DStv Family, and the rest on DStv Compact. Olympics Africa, Olympics News and Olympics SuperScreen will be available on DStv Access.
Showmax subscribers on the Premier League Mobile plan will also be able to stream Olympic events, including athletics, basketball, field hockey, football, gymnastics, rugby and swimming.
The SABC will broadcast the Olympics on SABC1, SABC2, SABC3 and SABC Sport, and also on its SABC+ streaming service. SABC’s coverage will be accessible on eMedia’s Openview satellite service as well.
The official Olympics website will live-stream events, though some streams may be restricted in South Africa. The website will feature a full schedule and replays of missed events.
