Capitec users are also struggling to access services.

‘We’re investigating an issue impacting users’ ability to access various Microsoft 365 apps and services,’ the company said in a social media post.
According to Microsoft’s status page, impacted services include Microsoft Teams, which users are unable to use group chats or register for. Other Microsoft 365 services are also impacted.
Downdetector reports an increase in South Africans reporting issues with Microsoft 365 beginning around 7am on Friday morning.
Capitec customers also reported problems accessing the bank’s services. Capitec told clients that it was experiencing ‘nationwide service issues’.

In a post on X, Capitec stated that the outage has not affected card payments. Capitec sent a push notification to customers earlier on Friday, claiming that the outage had impacted card payments.
According to Bloomberg, Microsoft resolved a cloud services outage that grounded planes and disrupted flight operations in the United States overnight Thursday.
Microsoft’s status pages indicated that its Azure cloud and Microsoft 365 services had been experiencing problems for several hours.
According to the software company, the Azure issues were limited to the central United States region.
On Friday, a widespread cyber outage impacted retailers, banks, and media outlets across Australia.
A spokesperson for Australia’s home affairs minister told Reuters that the outage appears to be caused by an issue at global cybersecurity firm Crowdstrike.
