SPCA inspectors returned to Langa for a follow-up assessment, revealing a worsening situation beyond initial expectations.

During the recent census:
- They surveyed 105 homes, documenting a total of 159 animals: 148 dogs and 11 cats.
- They identified 15 cases requiring urgent treatment for ticks, fleas, and skin issues.
- They encountered 18 strays, with 12 found unsterilised and many suffering from severe skin conditions.
In addition, 5 homes were found housing animals they could no longer care for. The findings highlight an unprecedented need for immediate support and intervention within the Langa community.
The scale of the crisis is alarming, with a significant number of animals urgently requiring care.
The SPCA emphasises the critical importance of their ongoing sterilisation campaigns and proactive measures to alleviate suffering and foster a compassionate environment for these animals in the future.
