The City of Cape Town has advised residents of the closure of the Brackenfell revenue department offices on Saturday, 8 June 2024, due to the installation of new electricity infrastructure.
Residents are encouraged to visit other nearby offices or to make use of the various convenient online payment options, as stated by a recent media statement issued by the City.

Alternative offices that residents can use are at the Bellville Municipal Building in Voortrekker Road.
The City has also reminded residents that they can pay their municipal accounts, excluding motor vehicle licences, at any Shoprite, Checkers, Pick n Pay, PEP, Woolworths, USave, Ackermans, Lewis, Top It Up and selected Spar shops.
Online pre-paid electricity purchases can be made at www.powertime.co.za and payments for property rates and municipal services can be made at www.easypay.co.za, as well as via an internet banking facility.
Payment for the renewal of motor vehicle licences can be made online at https://eservices.capetown.gov.za/, and motorists are advised that fines and warrants can now be viewed and paid online at https://www.paythat.co.za/ – this includes fines that pre-date 1 July 2022.
Other electronic payment methods that can be used are:
- Card: VISA, Mastercard
- EFT: ABSA, FNB, Nedbank, Capitec, Standard Bank
- Scan to pay: Masterpass, Snapscan, Zapper, FNB, Nedbank, ABSA
Motorists who wish to pay their fines in person at a retailer can do so at selected Spar shops if the fine pre-dates 1 July 2022.
Payment of traffic fines issued from 1 July 2022 can be made at selected Spar shops, as well as Ackermans, Builders Warehouse, Game, Makro, PEP, Pick n Pay, Shoprite and Checkers Money Market kiosks.
