The City of Cape Town reminds residents in parts of Newlands and surrounding areas of upcoming critical electricity upgrades to the Newlands Main Substation.

The City advises that the outage duration is only an estimation as the nature of the infrastructure work is complex.
The remaining planned upgrade work will be conducted on:
- Saturday, 1 June (outage map), from 12pm to 2am
- Tuesday, 4 June (outage map), from 6am to 8pm
- Thursday, 13 June (outage map), from 6am to 8pm
Residents are advised to check the City’s official communication channels (including social media) or contact the Call Centre before logging a service request in relation to the planned upgrade work should power restoration not occur within communicated time frames.
Note that electricity supply could be restored at any moment and residents are advised to treat all electrical appliances as live for the full duration of the interruption and switch appliances off to avoid damage caused by power surges.
