After nine months of renovations, Cape Town’s Cape Grace Hotel unveiled its design transformation led by interior and architecture firm 1508 London, reopening its doors with a new look inspired by South Africa’s heritage, culture and artistry.

Located on a private quay in the iconic V&A Waterfront, the 5-star luxury hotel was taken over by hotel company Fairmont at the end of 2023, becoming the first South African hotel under Accor’s luxury brand and joining a collection of 90 distinctive properties worldwide.
Featuring handpicked artwork from local artists, Cape Grace’s new interior aims to showcase a curated celebration of the country’s diverse narrative that harmonises with the Mother City and its natural surroundings.

All 112 rooms and suites feature large French windows or balconies that offer unrivalled views of either the Marina or Table Mountain. The two-bedroom Cape Grace Suite forms the stand-out suite with its lounge, dining area, private bar, butler’s pantry and expansive terrace complimented by Table Mountain as its backdrop.

Working with well-known Chef Gregory Czarnecki, the former Signal Restaurant becomes Heirloom: A fine-dining experience serving elevated South African cuisine. The highlight of the restaurant is its tasting menu which offers eight creative courses, using locally sourced ingredients, that place an emphasis on Cape Town’s natural elements – mountain, land and sea.

Other food and beverage options at Cape Grace by Fairmont includes the Pool Bar, Library Lounge and the revamped Bascule Bar & Lounge which is set to open in June and will offer an extensive whisky collection and exclusive wine cellar.

Also paying homage to local natural elements is the new Fairmont Spa which features treatments ranging from tailored bath rituals to salt room experiences, guided meditations and curated packages.
‘On the doorstep of the city’s finest cultural, culinary and historical landmarks, Cape Grace quickly developed a reputation for being the best in town following its opening in 1996,’ said the augmented hospitality group Accor in a media statement.
