A truck driver was arrested on the N1 in Laingsburg by SAPS members after it was found that the driver was transporting drugs with a ‘substantial estimated value’ on Thursday, 9 May.
This is according to a recent media statement issued by the SAPS.

Members of the Rural Flying Squad deployed in Laingsburg, in collaboration with Laingsburg SAPS, were performing high-density patrols on the N1 national road when they pulled over a truck.
After a search of the driver and the truck, members found ten packets containing mandrax concealed in a box and eight boxes that contained compressed dagga. It is estimated that these drugs carried a value of about R3.54 million.

The driver, a 42-year-old man, was charged with dealing in drugs and is due to appear in the Laingsburg Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 13 May.
