20 Peace Officers (PO’s) graduated in Bredasdorp on Tuesday, 19 March 2024 from the PO-programme, to combat crime in the Cape Agulhas municipal area, according to a recent media statement released by the Western Cape Government (WCG).

This PO-programme forms part of the Western Cape Safety Plan (WCSP), which focuses on ‘the strengthening of Municipal Law Enforcement capacity’ across the Western Cape.
This is to primarily enhance urban and rural safety and combat crime within communities.
In conjunction with the Safety and Security Sector Education and Training Authority (SASSETA) Certificate, graduates also received a 12-month Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) contract/internship within the respective municipality.
So far, more than R1,3 million have been invested in this programme.
