On Monday, 18 July 2022, the City’s Road Infrastructure Management Department is set to commence with the resurfacing of the southbound carriageway of Montague Drive between Drill Avenue and Railway Road in Montague Gardens and the eastbound carriageway of Bosmansdam Road before the Montague Drive intersection in Milnerton.
The roadworks are scheduled to be completed by 22 July 2022, pending unforeseen delays and inclement weather.
The work is planned to take place from 7.30pm until 5am on weekdays, weather permitting.
“The roadworks are part of routine maintenance and in keeping with our commitment to ensuring that Cape Town roads are durable and that our residents and visitors are safe while on the road. We are working at night to reduce the impact on motorists.
Traffic moving in both directions will be affected and road users can expect delays. Thus we appeal to them, where possible, to consider using alternative routes and/or factor in longer travel times. We have measures in place to help direct residents during the construction period and we urge residents to please comply,” said the Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.
The measures:
- Flag personnel
- Temporary demarcation of work areas
- Signage
“Your compliance will ensure that the works continue uninterrupted and completed within the scheduled time,” said Councillor Quintas.
