Police have arrested a second suspect in connection with the murder of the five people who were shot and killed in New Monwabisi Park, Harare on 13 March.
According to police spokesperson Captain Frederick Van Wyk, members attached to the Provincial Organised Crime investigation team conducted a suspect tracing operation in the Eastern Cape with the assistance of Lady Frere SAPS and arrested a 29-year-old male in Lower Lufuta, Cala.
Van Wyk said, the man is believed to be the second suspect to be arrested in connection with the mass shooting incident.
“A third suspect is believed to have been involved in this matter and the Provincial Organised Crime investigators are still searching for him,” Van Wyk said.
He is expected to appear in the Khayelitsha Magistrates Court on Tuesday, 10 May.
Meanwhile, another mass shooting has rocked the township of Khayelitsha with six people shot dead on Sunday evening.
The Cape Town township has been plagued by mass shootings over the last few weeks which have seen dozens lose their lives in the senseless violence.
According to the provincial police spokesperson Brigadier Novela Potelwa, police were called to the scene on the corner of Maphongwana and Idada Avenues in Site C shortly after 20:00, where five unidentified men were found dead on the scene while the sixth individual was rushed to a nearby hospital but died on arrival.
