The South African Police Service (SAPS) will soon look to employ a new National Commissioner after President Cyril Ramaphosa terminated the employment contract of General Khehla Sitole by mutual agreement.
According to a statement by the Presidency, Ramaphosa and Sitole have agreed that the early termination of the Commissioner’s contract is in the best interests of the country.
The statement said, the lead up to Sitole’s departure will enable a proper handover of various tasks, including all ongoing investigations, to one of the senior members of the team at the SAPS, who had been assisting Sitole.
