A Cape Town man who allegedly slit his pregnant girlfriend’s throat and broke her arms and fingers is now on the run.
On Sunday, 36-year-old Roslin Martins’ family found her body in her home in Heideveld after they reported her missing two days before.

Her sister, Aisha Samuels, told IOL that she broke into the wendy house Martins was living in around 8pm. ‘I went to the police and told them that she didn’t come home. When I came back home I had a feeling something was wrong and said that she [was] inside.’
‘We broke into the wendy house and she was lying on the floor next to the bed with a blanket covering her body,’ she added.
‘Her throat was slit and she had blood on her thigh. Her fingers and arms were broken.’
She said Martins’ boyfriend had been threatening to kill her ‘for a long time’. Martins reportedly had him arrested, only for him to be bailed out by Samuels.
‘Only because my mother asked me to because she didn’t want further conflict. Even then he threatened her for putting him in jail,’ she said.
‘My sister was such a peaceful person and this man came and messed up her life. They have two children together and he did this and even lied to his family and said Roslin stabbed him in the neck, when we know that it’s self-inflicted.’
According to police spokesperson Joseph Swartbooi, the suspect is known to the police. ‘On arrival in Sneeuberg Road in Heideveld at around 8:15pm, they found the body of a 36-year-old female who sustained multiple stab wounds.’
Martins was declared dead on the scene.
‘The investigating officers are going the extra mile in a bid to ensure a breakthrough and ultimately to execute an arrest. We can confirm that the suspect is known to the investigating team,’ Swartbooi said.
